Coronado
The Coronado® has the soul of a vocational truck, and that just makes
it the toughest on-highway beast rolling down the road. With the power
you need to charge up hills, and the efficiency you’ve come to expect
from a Freightliner, the Coronado is a truly amazing on-highway machine.
Your truck makes money on the road, not in the tech
bay. That’s why we built the Coronado® to be strong enough to take
everything an off-road driver can throw at it, but still be efficient
on the asphalt. With the soul of a vocational truck, it will tackle
even your biggest on-highway needs, and still maintain great uptime.
Engines to fit your need
No matter what you haul, we have the perfect engine to fit your needs.
From Detroit Diesel’s flagship DD platform of engines, the DD13™, DD15™ and DD16™, to the Cummins ISX,
you can choose your perfect powerhouse. No matter what engine you
choose, it comes with one of our new radiators, some of the biggest on
the market. They improve fuel efficiency and help your engine deliver
up to 600 horsepower.
Controlling the Power
If you can’t get the power from the engine to the wheels, you aren’t
going anywhere. With a wide range of Eaton and Allison transmissions,
you get to choose the drive you want, and they all give you the power
that you need. You also have the option of adding a transmission PTO so
you can get the job done once you get to the worksite.
Ready for 2010
Each Coronado is equipped with everything you need to be ready for the
2010 EPA mandate. The built-in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)
System not only brings your NOx and Particulate Matter down to
acceptable levels, but it can also give you up to 5% better fuel
economy with a DD15 BlueTec equipped engine compared to a DD15 ’07
engine. In order to keep everything running, you’ll just have to fill
up a single tank of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), which you can already
find at hundreds of truck stops across the country.
Gulp in the Air
We’ve redesigned our intake system to make sure your engine can get all
the air it needs to keep on working strong. Air enters through one of
the two intakes, with optional pre-cleaners, and is sent into the hood
air plenum, where most of the moisture is removed. A bellows then sends
it through the new Donaldson Advanced Power Core Air Filter before
heading into the engine.
Tech friendly Electronics
The electronics systems of the Coronado are built to be strong, but
make maintenance a breeze. Our new electrical harness and
dashboard-wiring layout reduce wire rubbing to extend the life of your
electrical components. And from the dual 76-pin connections along the
front wall to the easy loop layout, we did everything we could to make
repairs easier, so you can get out of the tech bay and back on the road.
The Coronado's Backbone
It’s hard enough to do your job on a good day, and when you have water
in your cab, it’s definitely not a good day. That’s why the cab of
every Coronado is secured with Henrob rivets and tough adhesives to
keep the rain on the road. If you are going through some seriously cold
conditions, we have an optional Extreme Client Thermal Package that
will keep you comfortable, and keep your truck working in some of the
coldest temperatures in North America. And we wouldn’t put the
Freightliner name on it if we didn’t think it was safe, so every
Coronado meets or exceeds the rigorous Swedish and European ECE R-29
crash-worthiness test requirements.
Haul more
The Coronado is made to haul some of the biggest loads over the
toughest roads in North America. That’s why we’ve built it with front
axles rated from 12,000 to 22,000 lbs. and rear axles with capacities
of 23,000 to 70,000 lbs. There are tag and pusher axles (with liftable
and steerable options) available with ratings up to 20,000 lbs., more
than enough to carry your biggest loads.
Keep fueling your fire
Fuel is the lifeblood of your truck. That’s why we install the patented
EquiFlo fuel system to every new Coronado we make. The system is
designed to keep fuel evenly distributed between your two tanks, and
make sure it stays nice and cool, so you can keep on rolling, even
under the most demanding conditions.
